I went through a brief phase--okay, who am I kidding?
I have way too much fun playing with the different roles seiyuu play
in different anime. This little hobby of mine came to a head with the
Seiyuu Madness Gundam
fic, which was such an obvious indulgance that I came to my senses, more or less.
In this piece, it helps to know that first, the actress who played Naga in the Slayers OAV series had two roles in Utena: Mamiya and A-ko the Shadow Player, and second, Zel's actor was also Heero Yui in Gundam Wing, as well as Mikage in Utena (those are pink sunglasses in his scabbard). Mikage and Mamiya have a relationship that's just the slightest bit, er, sketchy. But then who doesn't, in Utena?
Gundam Wing can be skipped, IMO, except as a guide to the fandom. Utena, however, is such a fantastic anime that I wouldn't dare try to write for it. Go watch.
